Hi Carolyn! Sounds like a great trip planned for you soon and I will start by saying that the Port Orleans French Quarter is a
very recommended resort! I have asked Disney cast members many times their first choice of the moderate resorts and they all have answered Port Orleans! You can read more about it on the disney website,
www.disneyworld.com .
Good news for the guest who is not keen on the "big" rides! They are just a small percentage of the attractions through-out Walt Disney World! There are many sit down movie type experiences as well as slow moving boats or cars through various attractions. Go to the disney website (
www.disneyworld.com) and learn about each one by going to Discover, select a park, click on attractions on the left side.
If the rest of the group wishes to hit the roller coasters there are things to do while you wait. At the end of Test Track your guest can leisurely enjoy the exhibits (some are interactive) while they wait for your return. Other attractions have wonderful places to sit to rest or enjoy a great ice cream treat. You can always go in separate directions and pick a meeting time and place. Remember too that you all can line up for an attraction and at the end your guest can simply tell the cast member they do not wish to go on the ride and they are shown the exit from there.
Enjoy the planning process and consider making each of your guests a customized map showing the attractions they all hope to experience. This can be done on the disney website as well. This gives everyone a feeling that the vacation is special and just for them.
