    Hey Faith, My 13 year old son is excited to run his first 5K race at Walt Disney World this coming April. I registered him for the Star Wars 5K last night. My question is, do I, as his chEARing squad have to register anywhere to be able to get into Epcot?

    Hi, Shannon! 

    Welcome to the wonderful world of runDisney! I hope your Padawan is ready to take on The Dark Side during his first runDisney race event. How exciting! I am sure the force will be strong with him. 

    ChEAR Squad packages are not available for spectators for 5K or 10K events, only for half marathons. Additionally, spectators are not permitted within Epcot® theme park to spectate the race. Here's what you need to do to see your son cross his first ever runDisney finish line.

    • Travel with him via event transportation on race morning to the Start Zone Area

    • Once he has passed through the "runners only" entrance to the corrals, you head straight to the finish line and secure a spot in the complementary grandstand seats at the finish line - which will be located in this Start Zone Area. 

    • You will know which corral your son is in by the letter on his race bib, you will also be able to hear them send off each corral from the grandstand. Once you know your son is on the course, keep an eye on your watch so you can estimate about when he would be nearing the finish line. 

    • When you attend packet pick-up at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, be sure to make a ChEAR card for him that you can hold up in the stands so he can spot you. He might find you before you find him! The stands will be on the left side of the course. 

    • Designate a meeting spot once he has completed the race. You can pick one out in the morning when you arrive. A great spot is the large signs with letters on them, pick the one that corresponds with your last name.
