Hey there, my daughter will be 2 months short of her 3rd birthday when we go to Disney World in December. i am looking for face painting information but they are saying that she needs to be at least 3. does anyone know any places that do face painting?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Samantha!

What I love the very most about the Walt Disney World Resort is how our favorite stories come alive when we “enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.” We get to live the adventures we’ve read about in stories and meet characters who have brought us joy and hope – the power of this magic is so real and wonderful. I love that your princess wants to transform into a fairy or pirate or whatever creature is capturing her imagination, and there is no better place to do it than The Most Magical Place on Earth!

Samantha, it’s true that Guests must be 3 years old to take part in a royal transformation at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, or a swashbuckling makeover at The Pirates League. But never fear, because your princess has lots of other options! There are face painting locations throughout the theme parks and in Disney Springs, and there is no age limit on those colorful experiences.

I’m going to share locations where I have spotted face painting kiosks, but please note the locations are subject to change, so your best bet is to ask a Cast Member in the theme park. At Magic Kingdom Park, look for face painting near Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. In Epcot, I’ve seen face painting in the World Showcase, between the Outpost and Germany. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I believe I’ve seen face painting in both Harambe and Discovery Island. In that park, you’ll find one of my favorite spots for face painting: the Colors of Mo’ara shop, where you can learn about traditional Na’vi designs and be immersed int the gorgeous world of Pandora. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, your best bet is to check with a Cast Member, as things are changing so much in that park and I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction. Finally, at Disney Springs, you’ll find the Face Painting Kiosk by Enjoy Your Face.

Face painting usually costs between $15-20, depending on the intricacy of the design, and this price can vary and is subject to change. Here’s some news that made my mom heart very happy: when you pay for face painting, keep your receipt, because touch-ups are complimentary that day! I also recommend bringing some makeup remover wipes just in case her faced gets itchy. I’ve heard the makeup stays on really well, but I like to be prepared (and wipes are a must when visiting Walt Disney World, in my opinion!).

I hope you and your princess have the most wonderful time together, Samantha! Have you seen the Planning Guide for Preschool Kids & Little Ones?
