Hey Moms (and Dads)! I'm planning on taking my mom and 4 year old daughter on the DCL 7 night western cruise on the Disney Fantasy in Dec 2012. Are there ways to enjoy the beaches without having to spend extra $$ on a beach Port Adventure? Thanks!

    Hi Brenna!

Our last cruise was a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on the Disney Magic and we had a fabulous time.  At Grand Cayman, it is relatively easy to get to a very nice beach from the port.  Seven Mile Beach is just a very short cab drive due north of the port; a public beach with restrooms is towards the beach's north end.  You can also walk to Small Smith's Cover Beach at the south end of George Town, though it is a long walk; there are public restrooms there as well.

On Cozumel, it's again relatively easy to take a taxi to several beaches on the island.  However, in my opinion, there are none within walking distance, especially with a four year old.  I do recommend staying on the western side of the island as opposed to the eastern side as their is sometimes a very strong undertow on the east coast beaches.  My personal favorite is San Francisco beach, which is located due south of the port!

At Disney's Castaway Cay, you can absolutely enjoy the beaches without spending a lot of extra (or any) money.  It's definitely the highlight for a lot of guests!

Enjoy planning your magical Disney Cruise Line vacation and write back if you have any more questions!
