Hey Moms (and Dads) My family and I really appreciate all that you do!! My question is my son is 12 and aliitle over 5 foot tall, he unfortunately is not a strong swimmer. What watepark would you reccomend?

    Hi John,

Thanks for the compliment. The Mom's Panel can't do what we do without you! So, thanks right back at cha! Now, *clearing throat* ahem..your son and I are the same height. And I am not a strong swimmer either. What I mean is that, I can float a little, but Donald Duck webbed feet, I don't have! With that said, most slides at both waterparks don't drop you into deep pools of water. The catch pools are generally about 2 1/2- 3 feet feet deep. and the body slides like Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach just keep you within the confines of the slide at the flat bottom in a very shallow pool of water. There is a pre-teen area at Blizzard Beach that is called the Ski Patrol Training Camp. There is an attraction called Fahrenheit Drop where there is an 8 foot drop pool. Also, the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon has huge powerful waves. If you are in the deeper water, you should know that the waves can and will go over your head, and will sweep you off of your feet even if you are in water thats is deep enough to stand in.  Other than those factors, most of the thrills on the waterslides are from dips and tunnels etc.not necessarily from dropping you into a deep pool of water. I hope this gives you a little insight. If your son has a thirst for thrills, he will have a blast!
