Hey Bernie! I was a CP CastMember in 2006 & am bringing my boyfriend (2nd visit) in April. I'm looking for ways to make it special for him, since I'm so familiar w/ it all. He's a techy guy, like you. We're staying at POFQ w/ the DP, on a budget. TY!

    Hi Miranda!

Thank you for sending your question to me!  Since your boyfriend is a technical guy, I highly recommend taking him on a backstage tour.  Most technical people would love to see how Walt Disney World "really works".  I have really enjoyed every backstage tour I have been on.

My favorite is Backstage Magic.  It's awesome, but it's about 7 hours long and very expensive.  Since you said you're on a budget, I don't recommend it.  Instead, I recommend the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, which is relatively inexpensive.  It is a half day tour focused on the Magic Kingdom, and it includes a trip to the Utilidors.  Another good tour if your boyfriend likes trains is the Magic Behind Our Steam Engines Tour.  On this inexpensive tour, you and your boyfriend can get up close to the steam engines in the roundhouse area.

Another idea is to do a Segway tour.  As an engineer I always wanted to ride one and when I finally got the chance, I had a blast!  There's a Segway tour at Epcot and an off-road version at Fort Wilderness.  Both are a lot of fun, but if you and your boyfriend are more adventurous then do the one at Fort WIlderness.  I personally found that to be more enjoyable.

By the way, when you are at Port Orleans French Quarter, be sure to pop over to Riverside to enjoy their main pool with its relatively long slide. Also, be sure to take the boat from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney, especially at night. It is very relaxing and depending on how many other guests are with you, could be very romantic! Another romantic experience is a carriage ride at Port Orleans.

    Have a magical vacation!
