Hey Andrea, Traveling w/in-laws. 2 of my boys will stay in gparents room for a few days until they leave. They will leave before us. Is it easy to then move them over to our villa reservation, half-way through our trip? Changing/adding park tix/dining?

    Hello, Laurie!

One of my favorite ways to visit Walt Disney World is with three generations! What great memories you'll be creating for everyone in the group. :-)

To give you a little more flexibility in your plans, I would have your two boys on your own reservation the entire stay. To confirm my suspicions, I called Member Services and was told that you can switch them over to your own reservation, however, you will essentially be doing a check-out / check back in procedure, including issuing new room keys. Disney Vacation Club considers this a "split reservation." Your unused dining credits from the first portion of your stay will expire at midnight that night, but all of your park tickets, if added onto the Key to the World Cards, will remain on your old room keys. You also run the unlikely, but still possible, risk of having to change rooms. So while it's possible, it isn't easy.

As such, if your boys don't need their own room keys to your in-laws' room, it would be much simpler to have your whole immediate family on your own reservation, and your in-laws on their own reservation. Should the boys stay in that room with their grandparents while they are there, they'll still have access to their own dining entitlements via their own Key to the World cards and any charges (if you allow them to charge) will go directly to your villa's account, rather than your in-laws'.

I hope this makes sense! If not, just send me another question and we'll clear up any confusion. Otherwise, send any other questions you may have as you think of them; I'd love to help!
