Here's a really silly question, Faith! When you recommend not trying any new clothes etc. for the first time on race day, does that mean that we should also train in our running costume (tutus, tiaras, etc.) at some point beforehand? ;) Thank you!

    Princess Emily,

You're so cute! This is definitely not a silly question! It's an excellent one because it's a mistake that is often made and can make for an unmagical experience come race day. I've made it myself! My first Disney Princess Half Marathon I homemade my tutu and it was too long. As I ran, the middle section of tulle kept going between my legs and I spent a lot of time trying to pull it out - not cute! HA! Then one year, I bought a sparkly-like, pre-made running skirt and wore it for the first time during another Princess Half;  it had a sparkle that was positioned just right on the underside of the fabric that ended up slapping at the back of my leg as I ran. I ended up with a bleeding cut that left a scar on my skin. I clearly didn't learn the first time around (facepalm!).

That's why it's important to wear it out on one of your training runs.  Even your tiara, even just for a short run to find out if it will even stay on right as your head gets sweaty. I actually attached my tiara to a plain pink running hat one year - that worked great. At bare minimum, at least wear the pieces of clothing that will be next to your skin, even if you leave off any embellishments for the trial run.

I hope you have fun planning your running costume! It's part of the fun of runDisney.
