Hi there, and welcome to planDisney!
I wish that I could go from
zero to hero by providing a definitive plan for you to meet your favorite Wonder Boy, but unfortunately, Herc spends most of his time these days on Mount Olympus rather than at Walt Disney World Resort. My research seems to indicate that neither he nor Megara has been greeting Guests regularly in The Most Magical Place on Earth for some time.
Of course, there's no need for
Pain or
Panic, because if we learned anything from Hercules, it's that nothing is impossible, so I've compiled a few suggestions of where rarely-seen Disney characters have been known to appear in recent years. Please keep in mind that this is not a list of places where Hercules will appear, but rather my personal tips regarding the places you would be most likely to encounter a character who doesn't regularly meet in the theme parks.
- If you're willing to go the distance, one of the special features of runDisney race weekends is the character meet and greets scattered throughout the race courses. I love that you never know who just might pop up during a race. I've even met characters that are associated with the theme of the weekend at the race expo when I pick up my bib, so I would keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog and runDisney social media accounts for the announcement of themes because if you see a Hercules-inspired race appear, you just might be in luck.
- Specially ticketed events, such as Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World, are also a great place to meet rarely-seen characters. While I personally have yet to see Hercules here, the magic of Disney is that you never know who might appear. My pal Tiffany also recently reported that Herc and Meg have previously appeared at Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts' Night.
- Finally, just because I have never spotted Hercules during regular theme park hours does not mean it's impossible. With a bit of faith, trust, and pixie dust, you never know what kind of magic might befall you during your vacation. With this in mind, I would monitor the character experience lists in the My Disney Experience app each day while also leaving room for spontaneous magic. I have run into characters not listed in the app out and about in EPCOT a few times in recent years. While it's not a guarantee, I would check by the International Gateway entrance as well as the walkway between the America and Italy pavilions to see if there are any characters making unannounced appearances.
I know this was not the answer you were hoping to receive, but I hope the information I provided was helpful and helps you track down Hercules! I'll be thinking the happiest of thoughts for you during your search!
Here's to Magic,
Lizzie
