Hi Laurie!
Congratulations on your upcoming trip and we are excited to help! It sounds like you have been doing your homework, because you are correct you may make room requests and the Caribbean Beach Resort is also a lovely viewing area for the Epcot Illuminations show. The thing to take into consideration is that requests are not guaranteed, however the Cast Members will do their best to meet your request if it is possible to do so.
The easiest way to make your request is calling the
Disney Reservation Center (DRC) at the time you make your reservation. The Cast Member will note your request directly on your reservation which in turn will be downloaded to the resort. Don't worry if you do not see the request on your confirmation. Your requests are noted on your reservation and are viewable by the Cast Members.
If your objective is to be in Martinique then I would kindly ask for that to be noted on your reservation. If however you simply would like to be in a room with close access to the Illuminations fireworks then that is what you should note instead. That way if Martinique is full but there is another area that has a nice view you will still have a chance of getting a room with a "fireworks" view.
Personally I would book a preferred room over a standard one when staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. The preferred rooms are closest to Old Port Royale and include portions of Martinique and Trinidad. It will cost a little more per night, but if it is in your budget I would highly recommend booking a preferred room at this resort.
Thank you for your question! I wish you extra pixie dust on your vacation!
Blessings,
