Help! I am on a very unique health diet that restricts my options significantly. I had planned on bringing prepared vegetable into the park to reheat in a microwave for my meals but I am being told there are NO microwaves available to guests in the parks.

    Hi Melissa,

It’s good to see you back here at planDisney! Your vacation is coming up and I want you to feel confident in handling your meals, so let me make a few suggestions to get you on your way so you can focus on the magical experience of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation.

Rest assured, Melissa, Walt Disney World strives to create an inclusive environment for all Guests, so I would begin by reaching out to the Special Diets team, who can best address your personal situation. You may contact them at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com no sooner than 14 days prior to your arrival, which is coming up soon. If other Guests in your party have made dining reservations and you will be joining them, whether you plan to eat from the menu or not, make sure to have that information available to the Special Diets team in case they can offer suggestions for special items that will meet the needs of your situation. The Special Diets team has a cornucopia of special dietary options for just about every situation!

Melissa, Guests are permitted to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into the theme parks if they are not stored in glass containers. Cast Members are prohibited from storing, preparing, cooking or reheating any food brought by Guests and microwaves are not available for general Guest use in the theme parks. However, one option I would suggest is to take a mid-day break at one of the Disney Collections Resort hotels. Most, if not all, of the quick-service dining locations have microwaves available for Guest use. My family often takes a mid-day break for a quiet lunch at one of the nearby hotels and I recommend it even if there is not a special need!

If you are staying in one of the Disney Resort hotels, I suggest that you call your hotel prior to your visit to request a microwave in your room. Resort contact information can be found on the hotel’s home page just under the map on the right-hand side of the page. Microwaves are limited, but priority is given to Guests with medical needs. And of course, you can use the microwave in the quick-service dining location at your hotel. Now, if you are staying at one of the Deluxe Villas hotels, a microwave is in every room.

Melissa, I’m glad you brought your question to us and I hope this information has been helpful. If you need more planning advice, please stop back by and see me. You are always welcome to be our Guest at planDisney!

    Wishing you many magical memories,
    Shannon
