Hi Lisa!
This is a great question.
I suggest making a reservation at a favorite restaurant. If you are looking for a Disney Character Dining Experience, you might consider Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort. My oldest son, age 13, still loves going to Chef Mickey's on every trip. Other restaurants to consider are:
- Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge
- Tusker House in Disney's Animal Kingdom (also a character meal during breakfast and lunch)
- 50's Prime Time in Disney's Hollywood Studios
- Ohana in the Polynesian Resort
You might also consider renting a Sea Raycer and going out on Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake. Both of my boys absolutely love doing that. It is relatively expensive if you stay out on the water for a while, so that could be a special treat for his birthday. You might also consider doing a Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise, especially if you have never seen the fireworks show from the water below. It is a fabulous experience.
By the way, be sure to pick up a birthday button for him at Guest Services in any theme park. It will alert Disney Cast Members that it is your son's birthday. A lot of guests enjoy having Cast Members wish them a happy birthday.
I hope this helps! Please write back with more questions!
