Help - We are leaving next Tuesday, family of 5 and the parks I planned all have the extra magic hours. No park hopper passes. Staying at Poly for easy transport. Did I plan wrong? Should I stay away from the parks then? Is it very crowded next week?

    Hi Susan,

You must be so excited for your upcoming vacation!  The Polynesian is a beautiful resort, and transportation to and from the parks is a breeze.

Did you plan wrong?  Not necessarily.  The parks with extra magic hours will tend to get more crowded as the regular guests arrive; however, you can see a lot during the extra hours.  If you've already made dining reservations inside specific parks, stick with your plan.

If you're looking to change your plans, you might want to follow Disney Mom Amber's strategy.  She goes to parks that had evening extra magic hours the night before.  For example, if Magic Kingdom has extra magic hours on Sunday evening, she heads there on Monday morning.  She figures that the majority of resort guests who spent their evening there will be looking for a change of scenery and head to a different park.  I'm planning on testing out this theory on my next trip.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
