Well hello there Chantal, I'd like to wish you the warmest Canadian welcome to planDisney!
It's so great to see fellow folks venturing down from the frosty weather in Ontario in order to bask in the warm breezes and enjoy the sunny skies of Florida over the holidays. A lot has definitely changed over at Walt Disney World Resort over the past decade and from the sounds of it, your last visit was still at a time when folks could take advantage of purchasing tickets at the gate without too much pre-planning. Now while that may still be the case for some, the amount of planning resources that we have available online and access to information about the latest Disney events and updates through things like
planDisney and the
Disney Parks Blog have resulted in savvy Canadians now purchasing their tickets well in advance online - especially with super popular events like
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!
I spoke with a friendly Guest Relations Cast Member who let me know that whenever a specially ticketed event sells out, there's a very low chance of any availability showing up on the day itself. However even though special events are sometimes listed as "Sold Out" online, I've personally been able to acquire one through the concierge during my
Disney Resort Hotel stay so it doesn't hurt to ask just in case. (That said, I've experienced that there's a higher probability of success with this on the earliest dates of these parties but at this point being so close to Christmas it would definitely be a holiday miracle if there was anything available on the day.)
Despite this, some folks and families still choose to head over to Magic Kingdom Park during the day of sold-out parties to inquire patiently at Guest Relations while preparing to hop over to the
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays if they're unsuccessful - which could be a great option for you and your husband to experience since you haven't been to Walt Disney World Resort in a few years. In the meantime, I highly recommend keeping an eye online for
special deals geared specifically for Canadians as well as
tickets to these special events as soon as they are released so you don't miss out again in the future Chantal! From what I've observed, we can be so proud of how great Canadians have been about planning ahead and making the most of each visit as they all make the journey from the north prepared and ready for each Disney adventure ahead.
I'm crossing my fingers for you just in case, and hoping you get some Holiday Magic on this upcoming visit!
