Help, help me decide between port Orleans riverside royal rooms, and the animal kingdom lodge pool view!!! Traveling with a 1 and 5 yr old. Celebrating birthdays (2) anniversary, and a graduation... Is animal kingdom worth the extra cost?

Hi Brigitte!  Welcome to the Moms Panel.  My goodness- your family has a lot to celebrate on this upcoming trip!  How wonderful for all of you- I can understand why you want to make sure this is a special trip for everyone.  We often get asked "is it worth it?", and it really depends on a few factors. The first thing I ask is "Would the difference in cost affect the activities you'll be able to to experience on your trip?".  This is important, because for some, it won't affect their ability to do everything they'd like to, but for others it requires budgeting and the need to scale back in other areas in order to manage the cost difference.  You should always stay in your comfort level, budget-wise, so you'll need to consider that foremost.

If you're wondering which resort would hold more appeal for your children, then I would lean towards Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - it just happens to be my most favourite of all the resorts! The animals are fascinating for adults and children alike, the zero-entry pool is great for little ones, and the general ambiance of the resort is so special.  I had the chance to view one of the Royal Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort in December and I really think they are lovely and well-done. However, many of the details may be "lost" on your youngest and even your 5 year old.  After the initial oohs and aahs of first seeing it, I'm not sure the "special factor" would last.  I think it would be more appreciated by the 5 - 10 year old range or a couple of ladies on a girls-only vacation.  However,  Port Orleans Riverside is my favourite moderate resort, and If you do choose it, I think you will be pleased. They have a varied food court, the themed pool is great and I love being able to take the boat to Downtown Disney.

Brigitte, I hope this helps, and I would be happy to help you with any other questions you may have - just ask! Have a magical day!
