Help! First time WDW visit in May, we are planning to stay at AOA. I booked reservations for character dining at Chef Mickey for 8:20 AM. Are we going to be able to do that? I have no idea how anything works! Info would be appreciated.

    Hi Devonna:

You've come to the right place for tips on planning your first Disney World vacation.

I love Chef Mickey’s. Every vacation, my boys insist on eating at Chef Mickey's - for breakfast, dinner, or both. The energy at Chef Mickey's is incredible. My boys not only enjoy the huge buffet, but their smiles shine when Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Minnie stop by the table to pose for pictures and sign autographs.

Buses start running early to the Magic Kingdom for guests who have early morning reservations at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort, as well as at restaurants inside the Magic Kingdom. I would plan on waiting for your bus by 7:30 a.m or a bit earlier. The bus will take you to the Magic Kingdom, and you can take the walkway (about 10 minutes) over to the Contemporary. Inform the bus driver that you have reservations at Chef Mickey's. During early morning bus routes, it's possible, but not guaranteed, that the bus driver may be able to drop you directly at the Contemporary Resort for your reservation.

If you want to make certain you arrive at Chef Mickey's on time, you can always take a taxi. Just talk to the concierge at your resort to arrange a cab.

    Enjoy your vacation.
