Hi, Gladys,
I admit to feeling overwhelmed when we booked our first Disney Cruise Line vacation. At first, it seemed like so much to worry about, that we were certain we'd never do it again. Well, after cruising with Captains Minnie and Mickey a dozen times since then, and with our next three Disney cruises already booked, I think it's safe to say that we discovered it's really not all that overwhelming after all!
What can sometimes make planning a Disney Cruise Line vacation seem overwhelming is the vast array of options to consider. I think if we can break it down into the types of planning elements to choose from and consider what our preferences or priorities in those different areas are, it makes it simple to come up with a travel plan that works well for us. Here are some planning elements to consider:
I would look at that list of items and narrow it down to what is most important to you at this time. For example, if your highest priority is a starting port closer to home, maybe you look only at cruises out of Galveston. That would narrow down options to a specific ship and season so that there are fewer choices from that list to worry about. Then, you can move on to other elements of the list that are most important to you and decide your preferences for them. One step at a time, you'll soon reduce the options to quickly come to the perfect itinerary and sail date for you.
Once you have a specific cruise in mind, booking is made easy using the Find A Cruise portal or by calling the Disney Cruise Line. I recommend including options that offer peace of mind and convenience, such as a Vacation Protection Plan and air and ground transportation. Once your cruise is booked, you will receive regular emails from Disney Cruise Line to help guide you through the remaining travel planning steps. That includes tips for what to pack and what not to pack, when to book onboard activities and Port Adventures that can be reserved, and when and how to finalize your online check-in.
Before you know it, your cruise planning checklist will be complete. I want your embarkation day and cruise to go as smoothly as possible, Gladys. If you have any specific planning questions we can help with here at planDisney, I hope you'll visit us again.
Happy sailing, Gladys!
