Hi, Cassandra! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I am so excited about your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort! I don’t know whereabouts in Ontario you are, but in my neck of the woods it is getting a little chilly and some Orlando sun and heat sounds mighty nice right about now!
The answer to your question is “maybe”. Allow me to elaborate. In the past, I have tried to link my Canadian Visa Debit card for room charges upon Check-In at my Disney Resort hotel and it did not go through, therefore, I had to use an actual credit card to be able to make room charges through my MagicBand. That being said, it never hurts to ask a Cast Member upon Check-In. However, I brought my Visa Debit card with me and used it at several locations throughout the Disney Theme Parks and Disney Springs and used it for purchases without any issues. For some reason, a few merchandise locations declined the card (
World of Disney was one of them when I attempted to purchase a new
Alex and Ani bracelet). I would suggest carrying an alternate form of payment if possible.
Another option would be to purchase a
Disney Gift Card to use throughout your vacation, this way, you will not be charged the regular currency exchange fee that you would get with most credit cards. You can now purchase Disney Gift cards at multiple locations (yes, even in Canada), or even online. You would purchase the Disney Gift Card in CDN funds, and when you make a transaction, it will be charged at the previous day’s USD closing exchange rate.
Happy planning and be sure to come and visit us again soon!
