Hello! We’ll be there in May and I was wondering how the RotR works if you’re on the ride at the time of a dining reservation? I know you have 2 hours to get there, but what about getting to dining? I don’t want to be charged for a no show! Thanks Holly W

    Bright Suns, Holly!

Our Resistance forces on Batuu welcome this news that you will soon be joining the Cause.

Having visited Batuu recently, I can say that I suspect you will be fine. Since you have no idea what time your boarding group may be called, assuming the boarding group process remains the same, my advice is to do your best to control the parts of the process you can control. First, verify the park hours just prior to your visit. Confirm your transport options to be sure that you can arrive to Disney's Hollywood Studios, clear security, and be in the park prior to park opening. My family had a breakfast reservation at 8:00 a.m. at Hollywood & Vine on one day and got boarding group 38. Our boarding group was called right as we were finishing breakfast at about 9:45 a.m.

Even after your boarding group is called, I would allot at least 45 minutes to an hour to experience the attraction. Consider also that the First Order is unpredictable, and the time to board could take longer. I suggest expediting your dining process as much as possible. Review the menu of the restaurant prior to your visit and make sure everyone knows what they will order - go to the restaurant homepage and click on the link that says "View Menu." As soon as you get seated at the restaurant, order drinks and meals.

On another day that we were able to get a boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, we had to enlist the help of a Cast Member because the My Disney Experience Mobile App was not reading all of our group as in the park, so we got boarding group 101. The First Order wreaked havoc that day but we were able to join the Resistance forces and defeat them by about 8:30 p.m. With that said, I intentionally did not schedule a lunch reservation for that day and our breakfast reservation was early because I did not want a dining reservation to conflict with our potential boarding group time, so I understand your dilemma! If you are in the park and discover that you will not make that dining reservation, call immediately to try to modify it or cancel with a Cast Member prior to the reservation time.

Holly, I sense that the Force is strong with you and trust that you will make that dining reservation and eradicate the First Order! After all, every Resistance fighter needs to eat!

    Good journey,
    Donyell
