Hello We are travelling to Disney in July 2024, our 18 year old son is in a wheelchair and we wanted to ask, with the current renovations, which is the best resort to stay in with the least transition times between parks and easiest accessibility?

Hello there Nikki, welcome to planDisney!

I commend the Disneyland Resort for their commitment to an inclusive and accessible experience for all Guests.  I hope that you and your family have a wonderful experience during your visit!

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is the Disneyland Resort Hotel that is located closest to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.  There is an even a direct entrance into Disney California Adventure Park which could not be more convenient!  I also recommend reading this guide for Guests with mobility disabilities prior to your stay.  If you are staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, you'll also receive access to early entry, which is our family's favorite benefit.  Guests who are checked in and currently staying at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels receive 30-minute early admission to a designated theme park each day of their stay.

Guests who have difficulty tolerating extended wait times in queues can apply for Disability Access Service (DAS).  Disabilities based on the use of a wheelchair do not necessarily qualify for DAS, but depending on the attraction, a Guest can request a return time that is comparable to the current standby wait.  It is recommended to pre-register for DAS prior to your visit, you can register for DAS Advance virtually with a Cast Member with a live video chat.  You can pre-register as soon as 30 days in advance of your visit, but no less than 2 days before arrival.  The Guest is who is requesting DAS must also be present during registration.

I hope this information is helpful for your trip planning, Nikki!  We're here to help with any other questions you may have for your upcoming visit to the "Happiest Place on Earth!"

    Have a magical day!
