Hello--We will be staying in a bunk bed room in either AKL or Wilderness Lodge for our next trip. My main concern is shuttle service. Is one better than the other as far as how long it takes to get to the parks? We will be going in late Oct. 2010.Thanks!

    Hi Amy,

The Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge are both magnificent, deluxe properties, with fantastic amenities, wonderfully-themed pools and great restaurants.  Many members of the Moms Panel just got back from a fabulous stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the resort.  Being able to look out of your room and see African wildlife on one of a number of savannas is an unbelievable experience!  I was speaking to a gentleman in the lobby who had recently returned from a "real" African safari, and he was amazed at the wildlife at the Lodge.  Access to all of the parks is via bus.  Animal Kingdom is about a five minute ride away, and the other parks are about a 15 minute drive.

Wilderness Lodge is fashioned after some of our Nation's most impressive national parks.  It even has its own version of Old Faithful Geyser!  The lobby is, in my opinion, the most impressive at Disney.  Artist Point and Whispering Canyons Cafe are wonderful places to share dinner.  Transportation to the Magic Kingdom is a quick boat ride away, making this resort a great choice if you intend to spend a significant amount of time at the park.  Transportation to the other parks is via bus.  The actual ride time to Epcot and Hollywood Studios is a bit shorter from Wilderness Lodge than from Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the ride to Animal Kingdom, a few minutes longer.

I have stayed at both properties several times, and always use Disney transportation to get to and from the parks.  I find both locations to be convenient and easily accessible.  I would base your decision on which resort is more appealing to your family.

    Have a magical trip!
