Hello---- We are planning a Disney vacation for either the month of July or August. I am just wondering if the crowds during the week of July 4th are really that much worse than another week in July? Thanks so much!

    Hi Stephanie!

We have been visiting Walt Disney World for July 4th for the past couple of years and have plans to visit again for the holiday this year.  In my experience, the answer is yes, the holiday week is much more crowded than any other week in the summer.  In fact, we spend July 4th and the days surrounding it relaxing at our Walt Disney World Resort hotel instead of battling the crowds (and the heat) at the parks.  Most Resorts offer special July 4th activities.  In the past, the parks, specifically Magic Kingdom, have closed to capacity on the 4th.  While the summer months are a busy time to visit in general, I highly recommend choosing a different week if crowds are your biggest concern

I have found that mid to late August is a great time to visit.  Most students around the country have started heading back to school, so the crowds start to taper off the more into August you go.

    Have a magical day!
