Hi Carrie!
The
Fort Wilderness Resort is such a fun place to stay when enjoying a Walt Disney World vacation. There is so much to see and do right in this resort that finding time to visit elsewhere can be hard. Guests at any of the Disney resorts are welcome to explore and see the Disney resorts at their leisure. You can walk around, dine at their eating locations, and visit friends. You will not be allowed to use other resort swimming pools. This is due to safety reasons as each resort has their own lifeguard groups and they are only equipped to handle the number of guests at their resort.
But Fort Wilderness has two pools for their guests to enjoy. There is a smaller lap type pool and hot tub near the cabin loops and a large pool with water slide and splash zone and hot tub un the center of the resort behind the Trading Post.
Fort Wilderness has so much to see and do that you can keep very busy doing it all. Chip and Dales Campfire Singalong is a real treat each night followed by the movie under the stars. You can rent canoes and kayaks and fishing gear at the Bike Barn. Tennis courts and volleyball nets are close by. Several times each week there will be archery lessons and Segway tours. Group horseback riding is also found at the front stables. Definitely visit the Disney stables to see some of the great horses used in the parades and parks. Cinderella's ponies are also housed outside and the stables are located by Pioneer Hall. Each evening you can even reserve a time for a quiet carriage ride through the loops.
Guests can also rent the small Sea Raycer boats at the marina or a small pontoon boat for a ride on the lakes. Fireworks cruises and private fishing tours can also be booked from there.
Last you can enjoy dining treats such as Hoop Dee Doo and Mickey's Backyard Barbecue. So much to do in one place. Enjoy!
