Guardians of the Galaxy at Night

Hello, Planning on starting our day at Hollywood Studios and park hopping to EPCOT at 2:00pm. Can I join the virtual que for Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind or do I need to purchase and Individual LL? If so, how early in the day can I do this?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Andrew!

Thanks for dropping by with another question about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort visit.  Do you know what time it is?  It's "Save the galaxy time"!  How exciting that you're planning to take a spin (literally!) on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind during your upcoming vacation.  I've had a chance to experience this attraction several times since it opened earlier this year, and let me tell you, it skyrocketed to the top of my favorite-rides list from my very first launch.  Seriously, this attraction is unlike anything you've ever experienced before and it's SO MUCH FUN –– I can't wait for you to experience this out-of-this-world adventure soon!

As it sounds like you already know, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind isn't offering a standby line at this time –– to get in on all the fun, you'll either need to join the virtual queue or purchase an Individual Lightning Lane spot using the My Disney Experience mobile app.  Guests wishing to join the virtual queue can do so at 7 AM EST and 1 PM EST each day, but being able to do this comes with a few restrictions.  In order to join the 7 AM queue, you'll need a Disney Park Pass reservation for EPCOT that day, while the 1 PM option requires you to physically be inside EPCOT in order to join –– this means that if you won't be heading to EPCOT until Park Hopping begins at 2 PM EST, unfortunately, you won't have an opportunity to join either of these queues.  In that case, your best bet would be to purchase an Individual Lighting Lane timeslot that works best for you.  If you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel during your visit, you'll be able to begin making up to two of these selections at 7 AM EST each day, otherwise, all Guests can begin making their selections as soon as the park opens.

Hold the phone, though –– there might be one other way for you to join the virtual queue on the day of your visit.  If you'll be staying at one of the Deluxe Resort hotels of Disney Vacation Club Resorts and if you happen to be visiting EPCOT on an evening when Extended Evening Theme Park Hours are being offered (I know that's a lot of ifs, but bear with me), you'll have one extra opportunity to join the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind virtual queue.  On these evenings, eligible Guests can join the queue for these extended hours beginning at 6 PM EST.  Like the 1 PM queue, you'll need to be inside EPCOT to do this, but if you're planning on a little late-night fun in the park, this is a great way to hitch a ride with Quill, Groot, and the whole gang.  And remember that you also have the option to join the virtual queue and purchase Individual Lightning Lane access –– if you'd like to blast off more than once (and try to score a different song), this might be an option for you, as well.

Thanks for visiting planDisney, Andrew.  I'm wishing you lots of pixie dust during your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort visit!
