Hello, Planning our first mother/son trip (he is almost 10)! We are planning WDW. I have never been and am looking for recommendations and tips on how to plan this trip as I have discovered there are A LOT of aspects to cover. Thanks!

    Hi Nichole,

How exciting to be planning a mother-son trip to Walt Disney World, and that it will be a first trip as well! I am happy to help you start thinking about planning this magical vacation.

I recommend that early in your planning you take a look at the Disney resort hotels. There are many to choose from at different price points and with different themes. I do recommend that you stay in a Disney resort hotel especially for your first trip. This will put you right in the middle of the magic, and you can take advantage of benefits such as transportation around Walt Disney World property and Extra Magic Hours. You can also start to think about if a Magic Your Way Vacation Package is right for you. Magic Your Way Vacation Packages can bundle your theme park tickets and even your dining into one package. You also might want to take a glance at the Walt Disney World Special Offers page, which lists currently available offers and discounts on Walt Disney World vacations.

Once you have taken a glance at the links I listed above, I suggest that you call Disney at 407-939-5277. A cast member there will be able to help you book the best package for you. You should also consider setting up a My Disney Experience account, as you will use this to manage your reservations and selections. Once you have your package booked, then I suggest that you start looking at more specifics such as which restaurants and attractions you would like to experience.

I would love to help you plan more Nichole; however, I am limited in the space that I have to answer. Please do write back if you have any further questions!
