Hi Becky,
Thanks for visiting planDisney! Any Disney trip starts with a ticket, and ticket prices vary based on the season; that’s where our tiered tickets come in. I’m happy to explain the ticket options available to you.
When visiting the Disneyland Resort, you can purchase
two types of tickets: a One Park Per Day ticket or a Park Hopper ticket. A Park Hopper ticket allows you to visit both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Park on the same day. Park Hopper tickets are great for guests with limited time to explore both parks.
When you make your park reservation, you’ll choose which park to start your day in. After 11:00 a.m., you’ll be able to move freely between both parks.
In addition to a valid ticket, a
park reservation is required for entry. This is where the tiered pricing comes into play. Ticket prices vary throughout the year based on several factors that we (even us, planDisney panelists) aren’t privy to. Tier 1 tickets are the most affordable, while Tier 6 tickets are the most expensive. If you need to reschedule your trip, you may use your ticket on a date with the same or a lower tier (as long as it’s before the ticket’s expiration date). For example, you can use a Tier 4 ticket on another Tier 4 day or a Tier 3, 2, or 1 day.
Be sure to check the
ticket calendar to see the prices for a 1-day, One Park Per Day ticket and a Park Hopper ticket for Labor Day. The Disneyland Resort website also lists
blackout dates for each ticket tier to help you plan or reschedule accordingly.
One final reminder:
Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort kicks off on August 22 through October 31! Over at Disney California Adventure Park,
Plaza de la Familia will be in full swing from August 22 through November 2, celebrating the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos. If you’re a big Halloween fan, I highly recommend a Park Hopper ticket, because the
decorations in both parks are amazing! Cars Land at night? Un-boo-lievable! The
giant Mickey pumpkin on Main Street? Spook-tacular! You don't want to miss out!
Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for more
information on Halloween Time.
I hope this helps with your ticket planning, Becky! If you have any more questions or need additional tips, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always here to sprinkle a little extra pixie dust on your vacation.
Happy haunting at the Happiest Place on Earth!
