Hi there Alex, I'm delighted to welcome you to planDisney!
As someone who not only had a
surprise Disney proposal here at Walt Disney World Resort but ended up
having a Disney Wedding here last year - I'm always delighted to help anyone take those very important steps towards their Happily Ever After. It sounds like you're already well ahead of the game by not only thinking a year in advance, but also considering a special occasion when it can take place along with ways that you can have someone snap shots of that moment! There are so many couples that
get engaged right here at Walt Disney World Resort all year round, and as someone who has spent a considerable amount of time planning my own proposal, I've got a few insights as a Disney Groom that I'm happy to bestow upon you as you prepare to pop the question:
- Purchasing tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party will ensure that you've got an evening of fun for the two of you to enjoy together, along with great moments that can be captured by Disney PhotoPass photographers at special spots throughout the night. I've witnessed a fair few being informed in advance about someone's intention to propose and have ended taking pictures of their special surprise! A great tactic is to find a reason to slip away and speak to one at the spot you have in mind, just so they're prepared to capture your proposal; if you can recruit a friend or someone to ask on your behalf or film the moment that would be even better!
- There's an offering called Capture Your Moment that offers private 20-minute sessions that can be used for engagements and they even had a selection of photo props that were available to us when we booked this. While this is an option I very much recommend in conjunction with purchasing Memory Maker to make the most of your shots, this might have to involve some strategic planning and great timing to pull off. (For example, the earliest that guests attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party may enter is currently 4:00 P.M. but as of this year the latest bookable Capture Your Moment photo sessions in Magic Kingdom Park are at 4:15 P.M. so you'd have to plan to be among the first party guests to enter in order to take advantage of this sweet spot!)
I hope that this helps, Alex! Come back again for
any other proposal ideas or helpful details that I can share as you go amount making an already very magical place that much more special for you and your girlfriend (and hopefully fiancée)!
Wishing you all the best on your quest to pop the question!
