Hello, My family has one day to spend in Disney's Animal Kingdom. My daughters (age 8 and 11) mainly want to see the Avatar themed attractions. What itinerary do you suggest as an ideal full day of adventure?

Jambo, Elizabeth, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks so much for your question--navigating Walt Disney World Resort with two daughters is one of my superpowers! A day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is a must when we visit Walt Disney World, and I consulted my in-house experts for tips for an unforgettable adventure!

Before your arrival, download the My Disney Experience app. It makes it easy to book dining reservations, check wait times, and much more! I recommend purchasing Disney Genie+ service to book return times to enjoy many experiences with a shorter wait.

Start the day at Pandora - The World of AvatarAvatar Flight of Passage is very popular, so make this attraction your first stop.  You can secure an Individual Lightning Lane to ensure you’ll be able to ride. Nearby is Na’vi River Journey, a peaceful rainforest voyage sure to capture your girls’ imaginations.

Onwards to Asia for a ride on Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, a thrilling trip on a runaway train! If someone wants to skip the roller coaster, try a Rider Switch--this allows one adult to ride with a child while the other waits with non-riders. Afterward, the adults swap and the other rides (meaning the lucky kiddo enjoys two rides!).

Next up is Africa for an expedition on Kilimanjaro Safaris. Travel through a real wildlife preserve and learn some interesting facts as well! Try to catch the Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe, also--they usually have several lively shows daily.

Don't miss the two best live shows at Walt Disney World! Festival of the Lion King (Africa) is an interactive show featuring your favorite tunes. You can also go with the flow at Finding Nemo: The Big Blue...and Beyond! (DinoLand U.S.A.), another spellbinding show that always gets me right in the feels.

If it's characters you seek, you can meet Moana, Mickey Mouse, and other pals--check the My Disney Experience app for exact meet-and-greet times. Tusker House Restaurant is a great Character Dining meal, featuring a delicious buffet and some special friends!

Elizabeth, I hope your family has a wonderful vacation. Please reach out directly if I can offer any other tips for your Animal Kingdom adventure!
