Hi there, Corinne! Welcome to planDisney! Birthday celebrations at the Happiest Place on Earth are filled with extra magic. Let's see if we can find some pixie dust along the way to make that day memorable!
January in the parks is a great time to visit as the holiday crowds have said adieu and the weather can be cool but comfortable. It can also be a period of transition as the parks make their way out of the holly jolly with amended park hours, entertainment schedules, and attraction refurbishments. Just something to keep in mind as you make your plans, but I guarantee the magic will be in full swing no matter what!
While the Entertainment Schedule for January has not yet been released, I can point you in a few directions based on historical Disney data. If there is a fireworks spectacular scheduled for January, it will typically take place on weekends only - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings - to be a good neighbor to our Anaheim friends. The
Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace offers dining with a view! The dinner is a bit more quick service style where you pick up your food at
Galactic Grill and bring it with you to enjoy on the terrace. The best part is that you have access to the space for the evening, so you can enjoy your meal, hop on Space Mountain, and then return for that evening's fireworks performance!
Another option you might want to consider is the
Fantasmic! Premium Dining Package at the River Belle Terrace! I have done this myself and absolutely loved watching Mickey light up the night above the Rivers of America while seated on the outdoor patio! Fantasmic! usually runs a weekends-only schedule in January, and the dining package is offered for the first show of the evening. You will be able to choose from the regular menu or some Fantasmic! inspired menu items to get you in the mood!
World of Color over at Disney California Adventure Park offers a
Dessert Party that is truly spectacular! While it won't be a full meal, you will be seated with a rainbow-inspired plate of sweet and savory treats and a drink of your choosing ... including a cocktail rimmed with sprinkles! From my experience, most tables in this viewing area seat a party of 4 at either a low-top table or a high-top table. I recommend the high top just to give you a bit more elevation over the Guests in front of you, but a great view is guaranteed! Historically, World of Color runs nightly so this might be a good one to add to your calendar if you are visiting on a weekday!
Some final quick tips! The
Entertainment Schedule is released six weeks ahead of time while
dining reservations, including dining packages, are available to book 60 days ahead. You are just a few days out from that reservation window opening up to you! These can be popular events, so I recommend booking them early and making note of the cancellation policy if you need to make any changes down the line. My general Disney planning rule is to book early and decide later!
Corinne, here's to one magical birthday celebration! If you have any more questions, please come back to see us here at

Magic awaits!
