Hi Michele, welcome to planDisney! Your trip is just around the corner – can you smell the churros and hear the Disneyland Band playing yet? I'm delighted to help you plan the most magical visit.
Unfortunately, Michele, I don't have the best news. Looking at the
Hours & Events calendar on the Disneyland website, both the
Disneyland Railroad and the
Disneyland Monorail still show as closed for refurbishment the week you visit. It appears that both attractions will
reopen on March 7, 2025. It's a real Bibbidi Bobbidi Bummer that you will miss it by just a week.
However, since this is your first visit in more than 10 years, let's focus on all the new stuff you can do and see when you visit!
–
Galaxys Edge: This Star Wars-themed land opened in 2019 and is totally immersive. You'll feel like you stepped right into Batuu, with character interactions, unique menu items, and a galactic ambiance.
Rise of the Resistance is so innovative and cutting-edge. My dad recently joined us at Disneyland for the first time in over 8 years, and this attraction was our top priority for the whole day. He loved it, by the way!
–
Mickey's Toontown: This zany area was reimagined with some exciting updates. My favorite is
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, an attraction in which you feel like you're in the middle of a cartoon. Plus, it gets extra points for being train-themed!
–
Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Want to brave a water ride with a 50-foot drop? This attraction's musical and festive atmosphere debuted fairly recently at the Disneyland Resort. I had a great time when I rode it in November. Word to the wise – sit in the middle of the log or bring a poncho. Otherwise, you may get wet like I did!
–
Avengers Campus: This heroic expansion to California Adventure opened in 2021, so it will also be a new experience for you! Web Slingers is my daughter's favorite attraction, but my favorite is Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
–
Pixar Place Hotel: If you have time, take a quick walk through the lobby of the only fully Pixar-themed hotel in the country. You may even run into Bing Bong!
Ahead of your trip, I recommend downloading the
Disneyland Resort mobile app. It makes it easy to scan into the park, access photos, check wait times, order food, and more.
Michele, I'm sorry that it doesn't look like the refurbishments for the Disneyland Railroad and Disneyland Monorail will be complete by the time you visit. However, I hope this other information has added some pixie dust to your planning. Please let us know if you have any other questions before your trip. We're happy to help.
Adventure awaits!
