Hello! I’ve sent an enquiry to Disney Weddings but I wondered if anyone else had had a very small (6 people, including the bride and groom) wedding at Disney World and what your experience was like?

Why hello there Laura, I'd like to wish you a warm Disney Wedding welcome to planDisney!

I just had a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding myself this year and with our anniversary coming up it's been great to look back on the long planning process a year later and be able to share what worked best for us with fellow couples looking to get married at Walt Disney World Resort! On behalf of current and future DisBrides and DisGrooms, I'm happy to share what our experience was like planning our intimate Disney Wedding:

    • The most important thing to remember is that despite having a smaller group size, you'll still be required to reach a certain Event Minimum expenditure with pricing that varies depending on where you intend to hold your celebrations. We were able to reach this by including a custom menu full of the items and snacks we loved the most from the theme parks along with some carefully chosen Decor and Entertainment offerings to really make the event our own. This included musicians playing music that we were able to specify and request (our nephew walked in bearing the rings to theme of The Mandalorian) as well as two secret surprises in the form of an appearance by Mickey and Minnie Mouse and an attraction mix-in on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind for just our party at the end of the night.
    • We did a lot of research through the Ever After Blog and the Disney Wedding Podcast, as well as groups online for fellow DisBrides to connect with real couples to learn from their experiences; there are even special groups for those planning and making the wedding trip from the UK! This was especially helpful as the final details are often ironed out much closer to the big day, and it was great to have years of research handy that was relevant to making it all work with a smaller group of wedding guests.
    • If you get a chance to attend an Open House event prior to your wedding, this is something I highly recommend so that you could potentially get an in-person feel for your desired venues! We ultimately chose The Attic for its cozy, intimate feel and opted to include a Dessert Party to end the night at United Kingdom Lochside which gave our guests a secluded, front-row view of the nighttime spectacular at EPCOT! At the present time, some couples choose to forego having a full meal and reception with a smaller guest list and are able to have a Dessert Party like ours as their celebration instead, but it's a good idea to confirm which locations require a minimum guest count all the same.

I felt that Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings team went above and beyond for our big day, and my husband and I agreed that we couldn't have had an experience this special anywhere else. Come back again to ask me directly for any other Disney Wedding planning tips or advice ahead of the big day!

Here's to your Happily Ever After!
