Hello, If I purchase an annual pass today but my vacation at a Disney resort and going to the park is not until October. Can I use the annual pass to get a annual passholders discount for the hotel now? If so what is the AP start/expiration date?

Welcome to planDisney Tammy. The benefits of enjoying the magic all year long are so awesome. Let’s figure out how to use those so you can take advantage of all these special offers.

During the year as an Annual Passholder, the benefits come and go. The first time you visit one of the four theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort is when your annual pass is activated. However, you will be able to book a stay using the discounts before you visit. When speaking with a cast member you will have to activate your pass before you check in to your Disney Resort Collection Hotel. You would have to call and book by phone to receive that discount. If you do arrive at the front desk without activating your annual pass you could be charged the full cost.

If you select one of the resorts near a park you can drop off your bags with Bell Services and head over to activate your pass and take a quick peek inside or grab a churro before you visit the front desk. Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT are within walking distance of several resorts. Disney’s Boardwalk Inn feels like it is in the backyard of EPCOT. And Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a quick monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom Park. You can make quick stops at both to ensure your discounts are applicable for your stay. Another tip I love to talk about is buying drinks and water at retail locations. If you are thirsty instead of waiting in line at a food location, most retail locations have a refrigerated display with water and other soft drinks. If you buy them at the retail location you can use your discount. It may not seem like much but over the length of your stay, you may buy 20-30 drinks and it adds up.

I hope this information helps you plan that magical vacation. If you have any other questions visit us again at planDisney.com and we will be happy to help.

    Have a magical day,
