Hi Kerrin, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I'm also counting down to a summer visit to Walt Disney World Resort, and I am
so ready for some magical fun in the sun!
I'm glad that you're thinking about a stroller rental for your Mouseketeers. The summer sun in Florida is very hot, and it's easy for little legs to get tired with all the excitement and walking. One of my Disney rules is "a rested family is a happy family," and I'm all about making sure we get our downtime in when we're at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Kerrin, the weight limit for Walt Disney World's rental double strollers is 100 pounds, and the seat is 19 inches wide. My friend and fellow Panelist Brandy recently
shared her experience pushing her "big kid" in one of those strollers, and I think you'll find her advice helpful.
For my 6-year-old, we like to rent a Bob Revolution from Kingdom Strollers, which is one of
Disney's featured stroller providers. They also carry double strollers, and you may find the brands they carry more comfortable.
Disney is wonderful with special needs Mouseketeers, and if you visit Guest Relations when you arrive, you may be able to have the stroller designated as a wheelchair or receive other accommodations to make your visit go smoothly for your 12-year-old. You may find
Disney's Services for Guests with Disabilities web pages handy too, and please come back and see us, as many of our Panelists have experience bringing special needs kiddos to Disney.
Have so much fun planning and Disney dreaming, and we'll see you real soon!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
