Hello, I was just wondering with the opening of Star Wars Galaxy Edge on August 29th, if you think it would be better as far as crowds go if we travel to Disney the week before it opens or if we would still be safe to visit the Disney parks in September?

Hi Megan, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Your question is very special to me because I faced the exact same dilemma, as I'm taking my parents to the Walt Disney World Resort for the first time in September.

While we may see an increase in Theme Park attendance in September, the last two weeks of August might still be quieter, as they're not the peak of the season. If you visit in September, though, you can surely plan to avoid most of the crowds by attending special events like Disney After Hours and Early Morning Magic. Their September dates were not announced yet, but I'd advise you to keep checking the Disney Parks Blog to plan accordingly once they are out. I know I will!

I can tell you from personal experience that even if you happen to visit on a busy week or month, you can still have the greatest and most memorable trip to the Walt Disney World Resort if you take some key elements into consideration, like building a good FastPass+ strategy and making well timed dining reservations. The many benefits offered to Guests staying at the Disney Hotels are also huge advantages in busy times, as they enjoy early access to FastPass+ reservations and exclusive access to Extra Magic Hours. How does that sound for an epic September trip?

If you need help with any of those aspects of your upcoming trip, please, come back. We will walk you through every detail to help you make all your dreams come true at the Walt Disney World Resort! Shall we start?

May the magic be with you,
