Hello there, Dorothy! Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for sailing by with your question.
This past summer, my family and I took a cruise that stopped at
Disney Castaway Cay and
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Pointe and had a wonderful time at both. For the initial walk from the ship to the first tram stop at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Pointe, we arranged for my mother to be driven on a golf cart by stopping by Guest Services in advance of that port stop. We gave them a time that we would have her at the gangway. The elevators can get full because everyone is trying to debark, so take that into account when planning your day since your husband may not be able to take the stairs down. We waited for her to arrive at the first tram stop before getting on another tram to spend the day at the family beach. The distance from the ship to the tram stop on Disney Castaway Cay is much shorter. There are some golf carts, so when you stop by Guest Services, I suggest asking for assistance from both locations.
If you think you will need additional services, take a look at the
Special Services Request form. If your husband needs a wheelchair or has medical equipment, this form will provide those details to Disney Cruise Line so they can prepare for your arrival. While all requests can't be guaranteed, they will do their best to accommodate you.
Dorothy, if you have any other questions, please come back to visit us at
planDisney. We are always happy to assist Guests.
Adventure is out there!
