Hello, I am planning to go to WDW for the first time with my family and due to school time the only available time I have is January. However, some people have told me that the main rides are closed due to maintenance. Is it worthy to go for a 1st-timer?

I wouldn't hesitate to visit Walt Disney World in January! In fact, it's our favorite time of year to venture to WDW.

Yes, there will be one or two major attractions closed for refurbishment, however the majority of attractions will be open!

Our family vacationed at WDW in January this year. In the Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain was being rehabbed. In Hollywood Studios, Star Tours was under renovation. There were no other major attractions closed during our visit.

Yes, we missed these two spectacular attractions but the off-season rates and lack of crowds more than made up for their absence. While I understand it's your first visit and you would be disappointed to miss anything, just know that it's impossible to see everything in a single visit anyhow.

You'll also want to pay attention to which WDW hotels are refurbishing their pools during this time. During our visit, the Yacht and Beach Club pool slides were closed for renovation so we stayed at a different resort. You'll also find that one out of the 2 water parks will be closed in January. We visited Blizzard Beach during our vacation.

Wishing your family a magical first visit to Walt Disney World!
