Christmas at resorts

Hello I am planning to go to DIsneyworld this year from Dec 13-21. We are trying to avoid the crowds somewhat and was wondering if this week would be busy. We chose this week because school is still in until the 20th, thanks for the help

It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jeff!

I've experienced every season at Walt Disney World Resort but I have to say that there is nothing quite like the extra layer of pixie dust that gets sprinkled right around Christmas. The Theme Parks and Resort Hotels are beautifully decorated, and the sights and smells of the holiday season are everywhere. You should make time to visit Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and see their 14-foot tall gingerbread house! They operate a real sweet shop from inside and the gingerbread shingles are the perfect size to bring back home for stocking stuffers.

When it comes to predicting crowd levels, it's tough to do that with any kind of certainty but I will tell you that the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite weeks of the year to visit Walt Disney World Resort. I have some experience traveling in the week or two before Christmas and I find that the crowd level is totally manageable but it does tend to get a little busier as you get closer to the holidays. My best advice is to make sure you have your three daily FastPass+ selections booked along with your advanced dining reservations and have a general plan of what you want to get done for the day. Being flexible when it comes to adapting your plans is the best way to ensure a magical time for everyone.

I hope this answers your question, Jeff, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your family Christmas vacation!
