Hello, I would like to know how to apply for the Disability Access Service (DAS), and when should Í request it? I was told that it includes an interview. Does this interview have to be in English?

    Hi Edizell,

Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for visiting us with this very important question about your Walt Disney World Resort visit next year. Early planning is the key to a successful vacation, and I love that you are already thinking about your 2027 trip. I’m happy to tell you all about Disney’s Disability Access Service (DAS)

DAS is a program offered by Disney that accommodates guests who, due to a developmental disability such as autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional standby queue for an extended period of time. Guests who qualify will be able to request return times for attractions in the My Disney Experience app. In order to be enrolled, guests must complete a registration process that includes a live video chat. At this time, the live chat is offered in English only. Eligibility for DAS is not guaranteed for any specific diagnoses.

You can register to determine eligibility as soon as 60 days prior to your park visit. If you miss the 60-day window don’t worry – you can also request the live video chat from your phone’s browser on the day of your visit if needed. Simply head to the DAS page on the Walt Disney World website.

While you’re in a planning mood, I’d love to share more information regarding the services that Disney provides for guests with disabilities. Disney has a ton of resources available to help guests with special needs navigate the parks. One of my favorite resources that my family uses faithfully is the Accessibility Planning Guide. This resource contains everything you need to plan a successful day at the parks from frequently asked questions and trip strategies to tips on where to take a sensory break. Another resource that we often find helpful is the Sensory Experience Details for Guests with Disabilities. Think of this as a what to expect guide for all of the attractions across the resort. Knowing what to expect is one of the most important aspects of navigating your experience at Disney World.

I hope this information is helpful, Edizell. Your dream Disney vacation will be here before you know it. In the meantime, if you have any additional planning questions be sure to return to planDisney for answers. We’ll see ya real soon!
