Hey there, Sammi! Welcome to planDisney.
Oh boy! You've got quite the unique ticket question, but you've come to the right place. My husband is active duty, so I am pretty well-versed in these special tickets and I am hopeful we can figure out your ticket situation.
There are two different ticket options for Disneyland Resort that are usually sold at the military ticket offices, so if and how you will be able to use these depends on which type of ticket you have. Unfortunately, there is nothing he probably could have done about the name issue. They put the service member's (or spouse's) name on these automatically.
The first ticket option is called the
Disney Military Promotional Ticket. These tickets are 3-day or 4-day Park Hopper tickets and are very discounted. These tickets are for active duty and retired military members. A military member or spouse must purchase these tickets and they also need to be present when you activate these tickets at the park, as well as use one of the tickets. These cannot be purchased by a military member and then used by civilians without being with the military member or spouse. This would be why the military member's name is attached to these. They will need to show proof of their military ID at the gate for all of these tickets.
The second ticket option available at military ticket offices would be a standard ticket that is just slightly discounted. These do not have any specific rules about a military member needing to be present or use them. If the military member's name is on these it shouldn't be a big deal. These tickets are not actually assigned to anyone until you scan them at the park entrance. There you will have your picture taken by the Cast Member and this is what assigns a person to a ticket.
Sammi, I really hope that your tickets are the second option so that you won't have an issue using them. If you need a more concrete confirmation that you can or cannot use these tickets, you can always contact
Ticket Services and speak with a Cast Member. I also want to make sure you are aware that you will need to make
theme park ticket reservations for the day and park you wish to visit once you have your ticket situation figured out. Please come back and visit us again if you have any other questions we can help you with!
