Hello! I will be going to Disney with my parents and my 5 y/o daughter,12/28-1/7. I know crowds will be bad. Exactly how bad will they be? What are some things we can to do to avoid the crowds?

    Hi Casey,

The busiest days of your vacation will be December 30th and 31st.  We were at Walt Disney World a few years ago around the same time and found these days to be the most crowded, especially at Magic Kingdom.  If you want to go to the Magic Kingdom on these days, you will need to arrive in the early morning because the park closed to capacity by 10:30 am.  For New Years Eve, we actually spent the night at Downtown Disney which was really fun!  It was still crowded, but we found a spot to count down to the New Year and ate Mickey Premium Bars.  I think as long as you realize the parks will be crowded and perhaps avoid the Magic Kingdom on the 31st, you will be fine.  We actually saw the New Years Eve fireworks on December 30th which was a pleasant surprise!  Animal Kingdom is usually the least crowded since it closes the earliest.  I would take advantage of Extra Magic Hours if you are staying on Disney property.  I know that you will have such a magical vacation, Casey.  Enjoy the Holiday season and celebrate the New Year in style- even if that is curled up in your resort room with a bottle of champaign as your little one sleeps!
