Hello I have a Disney gift card & a Disney dining credit allocated as part of my Disney package and I was wondering what the differences are between the two? I.e. where can they be utilised? Warmest regards Deryk

    Hey Deryk!

Welcome to planDisney! How lucky you are to have such special bonuses to make your trip even more fun! I love using Disney Gift Cards, Disney Dining and Merchandise Credits, and Disney Dining Promo Cards. "Girl Math" tells me that all three are essentially free money which is the best kind of money.

Now, let me break it down for you.

Disney Gift Cards can be digital or physical gift cards that can be used at both online and physical Disney Store locations and many locations at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, and Adventures by Disney. It's a great all-purpose card that can be refilled with even more funds! This is my preferred choice of gift always.

Disney Dining & Merchandise Credits are usually delivered digitally to your email account and tend to be part of packages offered quite often to UK Guests.  As its name suggests you can use it for purchasing meals and merchandise throughout Walt Disney World Resort. This includes the Resort Hotels and Disney Springs.

The Disney Dining Card is usually electronic but I have seen it in a physical form. It can only be used for meals, snacks, and drinks at various food service locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort. You cannot use this for souvenirs or merchandise.

The list of places in Walt Disney World Resort that take these three forms of credit is pretty impressive but I suggest you ask at each location if it will be accepted before you wish to use it. As a helpful tip, when using these cards for Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering, I copy and paste the Account Number and EAN into a Notes page on my phone. I then copy and paste them into the payment screen when checking out. (This is all done on the My Disney Experience Mobile App.) I love that during the Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering process, the balance left on the card becomes visible. You don't need to checkout to even view it. This is a great way to keep track of what's left on the cards.

I hope this was helpful and if you have any more questions please feel free to let me know

    Happy Planning!

My husband and I work very hard to journey to our favorite place on Earth, Walt Disney World Resort, as much as we can. We have traveled as just adults, with babies, kids, teenagers, and senior citizens. We have seen so many characters, eaten at amazing places, and consumed a ton of Dole Whips. So "give a little whistle" and let me be your guide! Learn More About Nimmy
