Hello, I have booked our park reservations. What happens if we don't show up to the first park - will our hopper pass work to let us in somewhere else later?

Hello, Amie! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I can see that your vacation to the most magical place on earth is coming up. I bet you are getting so excited!

I'm happy to see that you've upgraded your Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets to include the park hopper option. Park hopping is my favorite way to spend a Disney day. I enjoy hitting up one park first thing in the morning and experiencing my must-do attractions before the parks tend to fill up. Then around lunchtime, I love to head back to the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel that I am staying at for an afternoon swim. It's nice to be able to rest the legs after a busy morning of walking and to take a break from the Florida heat. Then in the afternoon, you can find me making my way around The World Showcase at Epcot enjoying all of the delicious snacks and beverages along the way.

Amie, park hopping just recently returned to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and looks a little bit different than before. To be able to park hop, you must have valid theme park admission with the park hopper option. Then, once your tickets are linked to your MyDisneyExperience account, you'll need to make a park pass reservation for an initial theme park each day. When you are at Walt Disney World, you must scan in and enter the theme park with the park pass reservation first before continuing on to other Walt Disney World Theme Parks. This sort of "activates" the park hopping feature of your passes. Park hopping now starts at 2:00 p.m. and lasts until each park closes in the evenings. It is not necessary to make additional park pass reservations to park hop, just that initial one each day of your vacation.

Because of the new rules regarding park hopping, no matter what time arrive you will need to visit the park with your park pass reservations first. You don't have to spend any time there other than scanning in and then exiting the park. On the bright side, getting around is a little bit easier right now park hopping wise because complimentary park-to-park bus transportation is currently being provided.

Amie, I hope this helps you plan your day a little bit better while you are at Walt Disney World. If you have any other questions before your trip, please come back and ask me. I'm happy to help!

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
