Hello, First time going to Florida and I really want to take my family to Magic Kingdom. Once I buy the tickets can I make reservations then? Also if I buy tickets and the day we decide to go is not available what happens?

Greetings from the Sunshine State, Erica! Welcome to planDisney!

I'm a lifelong Floridian, and I'm so excited for you to come to my home state! Spring is a beautiful time of year to visit, too. The weather is warm but the humidity of summer hasn't set in yet, and it doesn't rain so much. You'll have a great time basking in the spring sun!

And what's better than adding a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort to your Florida vacation? It's a good idea to buy your tickets online at the Walt Disney World website as soon as you can, because you can absolutely make your Disney Park Pass reservations once you've gotten your confirmation. Taking a peek at the Availability Calendar, which shows which Theme Parks have reservations available each day, it looks like your arrival date, April 21, only has openings for EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom Park.

But you can still make it to the Magic Kingdom if you add the Park Hopper Option to your tickets. You'd just need to make your Disney Park Pass reservations for one of the Parks that are available, then hop over to the Magic Kingdom after 2 p.m., when Park hopping opens. A morning at Disney's Animal Kingdom followed by an afternoon and evening at the Magic Kingdom could be a lot of fun!

Erica, keep a close eye on the Availability Calendar just before you buy your tickets. That way, you'll know ahead of time if the Park you're interested in has reservations, so you can decide to make your purchase based on that. However, if you do buy them and find that there are no reservations available, you can usually apply the cost of your unused tickets toward a date in the future. If you have questions about what to do with unused tickets, you can give the Guest Relations number a call and a Cast Member will walk you through your options.

I hope this helps you have a magical time on your Florida trip, Erica! Enjoy the sunshine, and please come see us again if you have any more questions!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
