Hello Do we need to bring cash onboard for additional tips, in addition to those which are automatically added to dining, etc? Thanks Cheree

Welcome to planDisney, Cheree! Planning for a Disney Cruise Line adventure is a thrill like no other. I'm so glad you came to planDisney for a few tips about tipping.

When we cruise, we elect to pre-pay our gratuities for our stateroom host and dining team. If you do not pre-pay, the standard amounts will be added to your onboard account. Before your last day on the cruise, slips of paper with your team's names, gratuity amounts and envelopes will be delivered to your stateroom. You can add a personal note of thanks and additional gratuity if you would like. If you want to add more but do not have cash, you can ask Guest Services to add it to your onboard account. Any additional tip is solely at your discretion.

Other services that are customary to consider a tip include Room Service and baggage handling. I love having 24/7 Room Service available, and almost everything on the menu (unless noted) is included in the cost of the cruise. Mickey Premium Ice Cream bars available with just a phone call? Yes, please and thank you! Tipping is optional, but it is customary to tip the servers who bring the food to your stateroom. If you are looking for a recommendation, we tip a dollar or two per item, depending on what we order. You can tip in cash or add a tip to the bill you sign when your food is delivered.

It is also optional but customary to tip the baggage handlers, the people who take your luggage at the port or help you at the port when you return. As with room service, it is at your discretion. These tips are unable to be added to your onboard account and would require you to have cash.

The Onboard Services - Frequently Asked Questions provides great detail on gratuities, just for your awareness. As it indicates, many of these gratuities are charged to your account, eliminating the need to think about having cash on hand during your cruise.

I hope you enjoy your cruise, the excellent service that is the hallmark of Disney Cruise Line and the carefree joy of being at sea with a host of people committed to making your cruise magical.

    Happy Sailing!
    Jana
