Hello there, Angelica!
I'm so happy to be the one to welcome you to planDisney! I'm glad you found us and excited to share some of my favorite activities for mini-sized Mousketeers at the Disneyland Resort.
First things first, let's see how everyone measures up! One of the most wonderful things about Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park is the number of attractions and experiences that have no height requirement at all. The parks aim to help families have fun together! But when it comes to more thrilling attractions, there are some that have height requirements for everyone's safety. You can find a
list of the height requirements for attractions at the Disneyland Resort here, but let me provide a few highlights:
- The shortest height requirement is 32" and is for Autopia (Disneyland Park), Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters, and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree (both in Disney California Adventure Park).
- Chip 'N' Dale's GADGETCoaster just reopened (so cute!) in Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland Park. Guests must be 35" tall to ride.
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland Park has a 38" height requirement.
- In my opinion, 40" tall is the most exciting milestone to reach! Once a guest is 40" tall, they can ride TEN attractions across both parks, including Space Mountain, Star Tours, Radiator Springs Racers, and Soarin' Around The World.
- There are a handful of attractions with height requirements between 42" and 48" including the Incredicoaster and Indiana Jones Adventure.
You can also find height requirements in the
Disneyland Mobile App by using the map feature to view Attractions. On the map just tap on the attraction and you'll be able to see the ride details.
If your party wants to enjoy an attraction but not everyone is tall enough just yet, no worries!
Rider Switch is available so that some of your party can divide and conquer without waiting in the traditional queue twice. Just ask a Cast Member at the start of the line for help!
Disney Genie+service includes Lightning Lane access to select attractions.
You can see the attractions at each park here, and that might help you figure out if Genie+ is right for your party and their interests. Many of those attractions do have height requirements, so measuring the kids in your party and checking height requirements is a good idea.
Personally, I love using Genie+ to keep our waits shorter, especially for kids that can get a little bored in long lines. Lightning Lane can be found at some of my favorite attractions without height requirements including Haunted Mansion, "it's a small world" and Toy Story Midway Mania! If you need to use Rider Switch then purchasing Genie+ allows the first half of your party to wait in the Lightning Lane, shortening their wait.
Angelica, I find it really helpful to practice getting measured with my kids before we visit the parks. Remind them to stand with their feet together, shoulders back, and looking straight ahead. Please come again if you have more questions!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
