Are the height requirements at Disney accurate enough? My son just turned 5 and measures about 43 and 3/4 inches barefoot and we plan on going in a month or two? How accurate are the 44" height requirements?

Hi Hannah! Welcome to planDisney! It's always great to be able to help out a fellow Palmetto State resident get answers to all of their planning questions.

When it comes to height requirements for attractions at Disney Parks, the height listed will need to be met for the Guest to ride. Your child will be measured at the entrance to the ride line by a Cast Member at a designated post. They will be measured with their shoes on, so I suggest checking at home with them on to see what their height is at that point. Make sure their shoe has a regular sole and is not platform style, since this will skew the measurement and may be called out by the Cast Member. If they meet the 44" threshold, then they will be eligible to ride these attractions.

Hannah, I'm sure your son is eager to get on as many rides as possible. With the exception of a couple of roller coasters, the 44" mark makes him eligible for a majority of the attractions across all four of the parks. My daughters are on the shorter side, so we have had a decent amount of experience with them meeting height requirements over the years. Even though we measured at home, it's still very exciting when they get to the front of the line and reach that measurement for the first time. Keep in mind that he will be measured on each ride that he goes on that has a minimum height requirement, so be ready each time. Some attractions will even measure the Guest throughout the ride queue just to make sure they measured correctly.

With your visit in the next couple of months, it's possible that he may hit that 1/4" before you know it. If not, there are still plenty of attractions that I'm sure he will absolutely love. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind only requires a 42" height to ride, so he has already hit that mark. If you haven't had the chance to ride this attraction, it has quickly become my favorite as well as many others. It's not only thrilling and exhilarating, but it's a ton of fun to ride.

I hope this information helps you plan for your stay! Stop back and see us again at planDisney with any additional planning questions.

    See ya real soon!
