Hi, Sariah! Thanks for taking the time to send in your question to planDisney. I'm happy to help!
MagicBand+ made its exciting West Coast debut earlier this fall! I'm so glad to hear that you purchased one for your upcoming trip to Disneyland Resort. The Disneyland website has easy-to-follow
instructions to help you pair it to your phone, which I recommend doing before your arrival. First, ensure your
Disneyland Mobile app is set up and tickets are linked to your account. After successfully pairing it, your MagicBand+ will be linked to your park ticket (or Magic Key pass), so it can be used for park entry and to redeem
Genie+ Lightning Lanes.
In answer to your question, it's not the MagicBand+ controlling the
Lightning Lane; it's actually your theme park ticket, so the members of your traveling party's tickets would need to be linked to your account. Once the tickets are added to your Disneyland app, you can make joint plans with Disney Genie+. When making Lightning Lane reservations, you can select every ticket added to your account with Disney Genie+; this way, you can all have the same return time windows. To link your tickets:
1. Open your Disneyland app and tap on the three stacked lines near the bottom right of the screen to reach the main menu.
2. Tap the "Tickets and Passes" icon.
3. Click "Link Tickets & Passes," and you'll be able to scan the bar code for each friend's ticket with your smartphone's camera or manually enter the ticket ID numbers.
Sariah, I recommend using your MagicBand+ to seek virtual bounties hidden across Black Spire Outpost in the
Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest. My friend,
Tony, is a pro at this game! You'll need to download the
Play Disney Parks app to play. You can pick up some more tips in our recent planDisney Technology Podcast. See ya real soon!
