I've heard the water from the water fountains has a "strange" taste. Does the same hold true for the free cups of ice water at the counter service restaurants? Wouldn't that be tap water as well or is it just the fountains with the bad taste? T

    Hi Shelly:

I've heard chatter regarding tastes from water fountains around Disney World, particularly from folks coming from locations with better tasting public water sources.  The general rule seems to be that the colder the water fountain, the better the taste.  I have never noticed any bad or strange taste from the water given out at the counter service restaurants, even though it's more than likely that that water is coming from the same source as the water fountain water.  Perhaps it's the ice making the drink cold.  Perhaps it's mind over matter.  To enhance the taste of water that may have a strange taste, some Guests carry and add flavor packets to their water, such as easy to carry powdered drink packets made by Propel or Crystal Light.

    Enjoy your vacation.
