I have heard some stores are using virtual queues at Disney Springs. (Gideon's being the big one). Are there any apps that I need to download ahead of time for these stores, or do will they send me a text when it is my turn?

Hey there, Chelsea! Welcome to planDisney.

Drooooooooool. That’s my response when I see Gideon’s Bakehouse mentioned anywhere – especially if there are pictures. I cannot WAIT to order some delicious cookies and try their signature peanut butter cold brew on my next visit, and I’m so glad you’ve got them on your to-do list too.

I have great news for you about virtual queues: they’re super easy! Where virtual queues exist around the Walt Disney World Resort, the usual practice is that you check in with a Cast Member (either at the podium or an assigned spot with good signage), provide them with your name and phone number, and they text you when it’s your turn. Details will vary depending on the location, so your best bet is to get the scoop when you’re there. Basically, the process is similar to what you’ve probably experienced at your local restaurants, where you check in and then wait for a text.

At Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs, virtual queue sign up happens near the bridge close to Morimoto Asia. You’ll see the cookie magicians who work there waiting to add you to the queue. Gideon’s has done a good job of sharing their tips, so be sure to follow them on social media for the latest. Their advice? Arrive early and plan your trip to Disney Springs around checking in first thing in the morning and then exploring, shopping, and dining while you wait. They also advise that weekday waits are shorter than weekends.

Another great technology-based time saver is Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering using your My Disney Experience Mobile App. The mobile order web page shares the step by step process, but I love being able to place a lunch order while in line for an attraction and then pick it up when we exit. Arrive at the restaurant, tap “I’m here,” and then wait for a notification that your food is ready. It’s so easy!

Alright, you are all set to enjoy so many delicious treats, meals, and drinks on your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. As you count down to your visit, be sure to read the Disney Parks Blog for the latest news on delicious dining. I love adding bites to the “must eat” list on my phone, which I keep organized by location. I hope you’ll also follow planDisney on Instagram, where we share our best tips from around the parks and resorts. Have so much fun planning and dreaming, and please come back and see us if you have further questions. Enjoy your cookies!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
