Hello there, Martha. Welcome to planDisney.
Well, you ask the questions everyone wants the answers to...including me! I just got back from the
Walt Disney World Resort last week and made it a point to stroll through DinoLand, U.S.A. at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park because
Walt Disney Imagineering has confirmed that they are planning to reimagine this area. While the latest idea shared for this reimagining,
a "tropical Americas" theme, seems to be sticking,
exactly what will replace this area has yet to be confirmed...and the timeline has not yet been announced. So, while DinoLand U.S.A. may be open when you're there in June of this year, it's also possible that it won't be! We just won't know until it's officially announced, so be sure to follow along with the
Disney Parks Blog and
Disney Park's Instagram account leading up to your trip.
Now have you seen
the short video that was posted on Walt Disney Imagineering's YouTube channel giving us a glimpse at a model of the possible retheming of this land and a brief look into the research being done to make this retheme as authentic as possible? It's
definitely exciting! They also just launched
a new series, "We Call it Imagineering," to give you more insight into the inner workings of these brilliant minds.
The first episode is all about audio-animatronics and gives you a sneak peek at some of the jaw-dropping animatronics being created for
Tiana's Bayou Adventure,
opening this summer in
Magic Kingdom Park!
Martha, I'll be following along with these exciting updates right alongside you. I hope your trip is full of magic and I'll have my fingers crossed that DinoLand U.S.A. will still be there when you arrive!
If you have any other questions,
feel free to send them my way!
It's not just EPCOT that is always in a state of becoming,
Matt
